Summary:  2009 Jingle Bells Meet

December 17, 2009

The JETS had 95 kids competing in the Jingle Bells swim meet at Waubonsie Valley High School.  We had a total of 52% best times overall and dropped over 15 minutes off our best times cumulatively as a team.  The parents ran a great meet and we had some great accomplishments, as noted below:

YMCA Values Award

The following swimmer(s) were voted by the coaches to have exemplified the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility throughout the course of the swim meet:

Jada Boykin

Jada showed a lot of patience spending time at the meet on both days after she was done swimming and waiting while her parents worked the afternoon session.  She was very polite and respectful in the hospitality room talking with coaches and parents, and Jada was seen chatting with swimmers from other teams in the bullpen and even sitting down and chatting with coaches from other teams while she waited.

Top Droppers

The following swimmers improved their personal best times throughout the course of the meet by more than any other swimmer in their practice group:

Yellow 1:  Tyler Rothbart (dropped 33.81 seconds)

Red:  Tyler Adkins (dropped 81.66 seconds)

Yellow 2:  Ryan Knott (dropped 27.54 seconds)

Blue:  Pat Vinson (dropped 38.51 seconds)

Record Breakers & New Standards Met

We had 12 swimmers achieve a new B time and 5 achieved a new BB time (click here for a report).  Congratulations to Maria Papes, Savannah Rubocki, Beth Senese and Emily Thomas for achieving new Regional times.   Savannah also achieved an Age Group Champs cut in her 200 Free.
